So, if you cruise over to http://bgr.pepsaga.com, you will notice that the two completed storylines are back up. What does this mean? It means BGR is BACK! And I have a series of artists I will be working with to make it stay that way. So feel free to click on through and help bring that new page’s rankings up. New-ish pages will start on Tuesday and update on Tuesday’s subsequently. In a few weeks, genuinely new pages will roll off the assembly line. So, now you can look forward to TWO Mace Paladino exclusives rolling your way each week. (there’s also a new Chatango over there for your amusement!) Alan’s endless cluelessness continues, but don’t worry. He will find out all about it very soon…ish. lol

Is I am not mistaken, there is about 2-3 pages of “story” left, then we’re finally getting to the “debauchery” promised. Also, don’t forget that we’re still trying to raise money for Prettio’s computer as well as, y’know, keep my sketchy ass off the streets. Because Lord knows, we don’t want me shambling around at night. In order to contribute, all you have to do is go to one of my “legit” comics (Starship Moonhawk or The Lavenders) and drop some shekels into our coffers and when we hit $50, you get the first of our four tiers of rewards. So, this update is just a quickie to let everyone know that this week’s page and next’s will NOT be in color when initially presented. I have a bunch of work to do because when Glance gets back from Ohio, we’re going to rest for a day or two, then hit the road for Animegacon in Las Vegas the following weekend. So I am prepping for that, making sure I have some junk to sell. More than likely, I’ll have some odd prints and my remaining stock of Starship Moonhawk books, but that’s about it. Once Glance is rested up, I believe she will resume colors, which look way better than mine, anyway. I will be posting a quick revision to the one page I did manage to color, though. The teal on Clara’s outfit looks… strange. So there will be a quick revision on that before I konk out tonight.

I know I have mentioned this before, but I thought I would lay this out in a more formal fashion. Back in Chapter 4 we showed a character entering the shop who bought some rather silly items for top dollar and exclaimed what a bargain they were. And naturally, Alan’s continued cluelessness as to the nature of the shop. Now, as many of you have guessed, Ronald’s is an “Item of Power” shop. It’s not an antique shop at all. (the only person unaware of this fact is probably Alan XD) But the idea of Alan’s ignorance is not all that outrageous (i.e. he’s not quite as dumb as he looks). In the world of SinaB, witches and warlocks and magical creatures are fairly common, but they remain in the shadows somewhat out of the view of the public. A shop like Ronald’s is what we in the business like to refer to as “hiding in plain sight”, though. Since people who engage in witchcraft and magic in this universe keep a low profile, it is only logical that they would use mundane and often ridiculous items to channel their powers. Hence, Pez dispensers and busts of the late President Reagan. So when you think about it, since Alan was obviously never indoctrinated into this world of sorcery (probably an oversight due to the untimely demise of so many relatives…), his ignorance seems pretty reasonable. As for his cluelessness with the ladies… well, that’s another story. XD

Also, just thought I’d mention that we’re doing incentives again. Now, those of you who’ve been around long-term know a few places to go to get funds to us. But for those who are new here, I’ll be setting up a page in the next few days that will allow us to do what we need to do, yet remain in compliance with you-know-who’s terms of service. The tiers are pretty simple, but instead of each individual contributor getting a wallpaper or the like, when we hit the goals, everyone wins automatically. At $50, you get a stunning sketch by our lovely and talented artist. At $100, we’re offering up a color pinup. At $150, we’re doing a group shot (no less than two, maybe up to 5 characters… I’ll hammer that detail out with Prettio before we commit either way XD), and then we have to go all the way to $250 to get a 2-3 page bonus comic (which will be in color and delivered the following month after goal). When the tiers are reached, sometimes shortly after, the items will appear on the Gallery page. It’s pretty straightforward.

I’m making some headway on the colors for this week’s page. I’m in that doldrum period of the week where I do two opening shifts going into my weekend, so it takes a lot of juice out of me. Glance is still out of town, so… yannow how that it.

The fun part of my colors this week is that a) Clara returns and b) it’s a great opportunity to force myself to do 100% of the colors in Sai, which EVERYONE and their brother has been trying to get me to use for just about everything. And I gotta tell you, I was a hard sell. I was sure the magical tools everyone was talking about were in there somewhere just beyond my grasp, and it turns out I was right! The biggest problems were setting the tool defaults to actually do what I want them to. And once Glance set me up proper, I was FINALLY able to make some headway. So I am actually working faster than I ever have before (especially given the level of sophistication Prettio’s art requires due to her skill). But I’ve only spent about an hour a night on it. Good news is, I am still looking to be able to finish by Friday night. *awaits requisite lightning strike*

Anywho, wish me luck on that. Once Glance gets home in three weeks, I can pass the coloring duties back to her and work on fixing those pages I never colored due to my injury 2 weeks ago. (I’m not going to burden her with backlog. She’s done enough for me just putting up with my shenanigans on a regular basis. If she were religious, I’d put her up for Sainthood. Well, maybe I will anyway. lol)

Well, still b/w… but it’s up “on time”. XD

Still working around my sore back. Doing my day job with a cane is no fun, but it’s better than not having a job. In about three weeks or so, Glance should be back home so we can have on-time color updates again. In the meantime, I’ll be working in the background to bring the previously posted pages up to snuff. Especially since Page 10 has a significant visual that will make these scenes coming up a little more interesting. (and also a reminder that we don’t forget our own BS here at Ship in a Bottle! XD)

Meanwhile, Alan gets a big scare when he meets the etherial Mr. Cornelius! Ship seems to know who he is, so maybe when Clara shows up we’ll get some fucking answers around here to the tune of “what the hell is going on?!”

Or… not. Who knows!

Ugh… I can’t seem to catch a break.

So, this past week, I tore up my back, and now I am barely able to sit upright for any extended period of time. this means what little ability I had to work for any streatch of time has been basically curtailed. While Glance is doing the whole convention tour, I was going to try and make with the colors. However, since I can barely move (In fact, I just sneezed and almost fell out of my chair just now…), I am going to be lagging way behind the comic production schedule for some time.

What does this mean for the comic? It means that you will have to (temporarily) content yourself with Prettio’s amazing lines, but with no color until I can pick myself up off the floor. The comic *WILL* go on… just not as shiny for a few weeks.

So, yay me. I’m now almost 50% disabled. Makes my day job even more fun…
