if you think thats old you should see my dads favorite comp. its a pdp 11 mini computer and it isnt on a desk it is the desk…… and he gets it to run on the internet
“It isn’t on a desk, it is the desk”
That seriously made me lol xD
I think my uncle still has this old comp… I dunno what type it is. But it was the kind that only displayed like… 5 different colors? and to do anything with it, you had to type in lines of code. There were no shortcuts or Windows or anything. The kind of computer that could barely run Oregon Trail~ xD
I do have to correct you on that: “DOS” is a specific operating system packaged by multiple companies and made famous by Microsoft. Windows is based entirely on Delphi, which is a language used almost exclusively by the Microsoft Windows Development Team (originally created by Borland, if I am not mistaken). “DOS” is written in C. So the more accurate statement is that the “Windows Operating System uses pixel data in their graphical user interface (GUI) to represent command-line functions.” DOS was all but eradicated with the advent of Windows XP. The “DOS Prompt” and “Command Prompt” are not “DOS”. They merely emulate some of its command-line functionality.
i actually used to have a lot of fun in 5th grade on a computer that didn’t even SHOW blue..
did she poof it to an XPS or an Alienware or something? I’d hate to try to load this page on a 14.4k modem or something.. *cringe*
The comp is ancient, and I don’t just mean like 6 months either, I mean like before the general public even knew there was such a thing as the internet.

That’s called running things in DOS. The first computer we had did that… damn I were a geek back then, I knew all the codes! xD
Basically you had to because to reach a folder you had to type in each folder in the path to it (eg C next line (-> from now) games -> donkeykong).
Windows basically does the same, you just click icons and it writes in lines of text in DOS 😛
Also… “it is the desk” = pure win!

Yea yea… <.< Ages since I last heard about it so that's prior to XP anyway, no wonder DOS has been folded out of the way, it were outdated anyway 🙂
