No Page Wednesday

My job is getting too busy now for me to sit around and be an editor while I work, which is a shame. But that issue came into stark relief this afternoon when Prettío and I were trying to solve the dilemma between my vision and what she THOUGHT I was saying. This means that there will be NO page on Wednesday of this week. The cover for Project: Wacko will go up on Friday so Prettío has some time to really see my revisions and finish it off. Plus, my revisions are SO significant, she will have to scrap a large portion of what she already did.

It’s my fault, really. I made a lot of promises about making a pinup of Beatrice to solidify all the ideas we discussed, and I kept agreeing to things over Skype that I really didn’t think out very well. (largely due to the fact that I was at work, and there was no way for me to conceal the fact that I wasn’t working on work when I was in my office on my phone, Skyping). So, I have taken some time this evening to blaze through a sketch-on-a-sketch, and we shall see what we see. Sorry, everyone. Prettío is in no way derelict in her duties. We just couldn’t come to an understanding in the very slim windows of opportunity I was given at work. Now that I am home, I am able to send a REAL revision to her so we can make it right.

Also, don’t worry about “losing a page”. I will “bank” the missing one and tack it on at the end, assuming we lose the 2x-per-week rate. If we keep it, sometime in January, I’ll find a way to get us a week with THREE updates to make up for it. Either way, we’ll figure it out.

“New” Comic, Old Comic, Podcast?

Ok, so, three big things going on as of this week’s Up Late with Mace podcast (do any of you listen to this? It has a lot of useful information about the comics, and you can literally hear me lose my shit Egoraptor-style over a number of topics from commissioning people to Hentai-Foundry’s complete, utter bullshit “standards” policies…):

First: Kawaii Neko Daigaku has re-launched. But in order to keep going, we have to feed the coffers of our fairly expensive artistic talent. His rates are currently non-negotiable because he is currently in VERY high demand. MagniFire is currently working on his own comic, Sisters of the Dusk (a Patreon supported project as well), and I get updates on his commissions every day or two. So, in order to get him back, we’ve set up an ENTIRELY SEPARATE Patreon campaign. I won’t bore you with the details here. Cruise by the KND webpage via the link concealed behind Miho’s shapely posterior immediately above. $1 per comic is all you need contribute to participate.

Second: Peppermint Saga is BACK! (didn’t you hear?) It’s tentatively updating on Friday. Now… I draw this thing, but I pay a colorist to do the finishing touches. So, while I got a little extra each month to handle this for a bit, I will need your help. That’s why we advanced Peppermint Saga up the list on Patreon to the third tier reward. EVENTUALLY, I will be forced to stop making that comic weekly if we are unable to reach the milestone that funds it. That tier is $600. Keep in mind that our man… well, UncolaMan, specifically, will not be able to extend that level of generosity every month. So if you want to see that comic update continuously, you ALSO need to help us fund THIS one, fully at the $400 tier, because we actually aren’t there yet! (which is why I didn’t RAISE the milestone notification on the sidebar here) We are doing the double weekly updates for ONE MONTH, then if nobody else jumps on, we’re back to once a week.

Third: Fuck Hentai-Foundry. Seriously, fuck that place. I hate it. If it weren’t the only place I could go to read “The Party” by Clumzor and Pantboy, I’d delete my account tomorrow. Every time I submit something there, they find SOME reason to deny the fucking thing. I know I’m not the greatest artist on the face of the Earth, but come on. I have to rate higher than the assholes who make Sonic porn in MS Paint! /rant

Comment Winner – Nel Celestine

Nel Celestine won this month. I think the deciding factor was definitely quantity. But it was for a great cause: she worked tirelessly to try and raise “vote boat” awareness. And as a result, we’ve been holding pretty steady near the top of page 2 on Top Webcomics. This has resulted in a rather decent uptick in traffic that e did not have to pay for, so Nel, the new vote incentive for October 1 is yours to choose. Prettío will be along sometime in the next day or so to present her list of ideas to choose from this month. (and, we also have a “whammy” surprise for later in October related to another hilarious comment XD)

Results for October Sketch to Be Decided by Sept. 15

Make sure to get your last minute remarks in on both the comic and the Chantango. All are eligible for the comment contest which will be decided on Tuesday, Sept. 15 so we can get on top of having the new vote incentive for October 1. that also means that the next round begins on Sept. 16. The decision for top commenter can come from one of several methods, the top two being funniest/most interesting individual post or an aggregate of repeat offenses on the comments section or the Chatango. So keep in mind, if you were thinking “quality over quantity”, on lean months that can work against you. The whole purpose of this is to improve visibility of the series, so the more overall comments we have, the better the search engines like it. Or, so I’ve heard.

Lastly, don’t forget to vote every day from every device with its own IP address! We’re hovering around 120 or so on the TWC leaderboard. I’m estimating a 20-40% increase in visibility if we manage to break into the top 100. We’ve had HUGE success just with being on page 2, so let’s keep pushing and see if we can nudge it just a little bit higher! The difference between 120 and 100 seems to be about 50 votes, but since everyone on the top 100 is landing votes every day, I’m estimating we need 2-3x that number to overtake. I know it’s a lot to ask, but don’t forget that more traffic = more money to us, which means more comics to you. So your efforts will be rewarded before too long.

Indiegogo 115%!!!! Also, Comment Contest?

So, just a quick update: the comment contest is being temporarily postponed. Since we picked an alternate, and then the winner showed up, we already have two selections. So be sure to vote at TOP WEBCOMICS (the voting icons are at the bottom of the whole page) to see the latest incentive! (as soon as I post it, as of this update >.>) Then next month, be prepared to have your mind BLOWN as Alan once again gets gender-bent to being a hawt chick when one of his wishes goes awry! It’s happened before, it’ll happen again. XD

The Indiegogo has reached 115%!!! But it’s not over. Rather than offering traditional stretch goals as many crowdfunders do, I am keeping it open indefinitely to help pay back some of the debt I shouldered in order to bring you FOUR new chapters of Peppermint Saga: Blue-Gray Rhapsody. That was a rather hefty $2000 expense, and someday I need to pay it back. So, if you want to chip in there, not only are most, if not ALL of the prizes still available, you can ALSO use PayPal, which Patreon does not allow for our kind of work. So if you find yourself without a bank account or credit card, fear not! You can still support us over there with PayPal! (I can’t take direct donations. I won’t get into the reasons).

Lastly, this pains me to say, but I need to make an extra $100/month for ME PERSONALLY. This money is not to go toward funding this project. However, I am not asking for handouts.
