Special thanks to John Merklinghaus a.k.a. “UncolaMan” for his generous contribution leading to this cameo. I decided that as a special reward for being the first, I’d include Lucia in the story (she will appear again in Chapter 4 ;)). Beyond what she does for a living and in her spare time, I don’t know a whole lot about this character except that her design is adorable. Perhaps this OC’s owner will feel comfortable sharing more details about her as they develop. At any rate, the invitation to do so here is an open one.
As for what it all means to the story… for now, Alan is trying his damnedest to impress the young lady with his charm and assure her and her lady mistress that all is well at Ronald’s… uhm, whatever the hell this shop does. Stay tuned for next week!

I’m glad that the comic is back (even if you did start it over from scratch)
Yeah. There were plot problems and some story inconsistencies that I wanted to shore up just a little bit. It’s what happens when you start with no plan at all, then suddenly you get an idea that turns into one. So now, I am making it as if I had a plan from go-time.
With the understanding that this is an AU version of her:
Character Profile: Lucia Royal.
Lucia (rhymes with Fuchsia) is the second of three sisters. An honors student until her Senior year in high school, she got severely burnt-out on studying and only graduated only due to several tutors hired at the last minute. Totally unready for more studying, she chose to spend a year or so on sabbatical before college. With only a high school diploma, and eschewing family connections, she quickly drained her savings and would have returned home in defeat if she hadn’t been able to find a position as a live-in maid in the nick of time.
She has no tattoos, piercings or body modifications of any kind aside from pierced ears. She is, however, fascinated by people who do, and is always interested in the history/reasons behind them.
Lucia lives a triple-life.
First, although she seldom writes or calls, her family thinks she’s traveling and supporting herself with odd jobs and isn’t working as a domestic servant.
Second, she’s been able to bluff her way into several parties, events, and social circles, using some expensive outfits she received as graduation gifts, along with her good looks and positive attitude.
Third, she works as a maid, mostly during the day but attending to evening social events when the need calls for it.
Lucia engages in very clean living and has exceptional stamina and staying power. She can work hard all day, attend a party until the early hours, and still be ready to go bright and early the next day. Although she has invitations to multiple events and parties, work always comes first. People generally understand that she’s never guaranteed to show, although she won’t explain why. She doesn’t drink, smoke, or take any illicit substances. She exercises, meditates, eats sugar-free foods, and keeps a positive attitude.
Although it’s important to her to keep these aspects of her life separate, it’s not like she’s a criminal or superhero. She doesn’t even use a pseudonym. It’s completely in character for her to screw up and run an errand or two in one of her fancy outfits, especially if it’s a short one and she’s not expecting to see someone again, later on.
I like the fact that it’s a thoughtful and not overstated background. She’s a fun-loving free spirit who takes her work seriously. And she makes an adorable maid. 🙂
I’m not surprised he didn’t notice her ears
I know, right? XD
Mmmmm, I like Lucia! Lovely design, nice colors and thus far a good personality too! Thank you, Mace and John, for bring these 2 things together so we all may enjoy them!
Funny tag of the week:
If I weren’t already shipping him with Ship I’d ship it – You phunny, phunny bastard, Mace. So phunny it’s almost enough to kill a wHole web comic! But I don’t see a reason not to ship Alan with Lucia, or ship the three of them together?
I mean, Ship has a very, very private space! Who knows? They might turn Alan into a shipwright, hehehehehehe.
Part of pretty much any endeavor that involves patrons requires catering to them. Luckily, Mace seems to be embracing (for lack of a better word) my O.C.
It really helped sell it that the artist you adopted her from had such a nice design. But I was also impressed with the thought you put into her backstory after acquiring her. As for “embracing” her, hopefully you will hang with us through the updated Chapter 4 when we trot her out with Lady Stephanie. the next time we see her, she will be in what ALMOST qualifies as a maid costume. Let’s just say that Lady Stephanie’s interests and needs are varied and great. And I’ll leave the rest up to everyone’s imagination until it all goes down. 😉
