Initially, Beatrice was quite excited by the ‘Great Cosmic Powers’ granted to her by becoming a half-genie, even with the obvious limitations. But soon that jubilation turned to frustration, then bitterness, and finally sorrow as she found she had no more passion for the sciences. For what good was practicing science in a lab when you could figure things out with a mere snap of the fingers?
Alan and Clara would look in on Beatrice from time-to-time as Ship managed the Harem, but they were unsure what to do. Beatrice assured them she did not want to reverse the wish as she knew she would be even more devastated by losing access to all the Knowledge of the Universe. She assured them she just needed more time to assimilate all this new information and she’d be “right as rain” again.
Clara was skeptical, for after all, she herself is a half-genie, so she “knows how it is”. Alan furrowed his brow in concern, though. As much danger as this young woman had directed at him over the past several years, he knew she didn’t deserve to be miserable. And there was no mistaking it: Beatrice Walker was one unhappy half-genie. And an unhappy demigoddess with a short fuse was an atomic bomb waiting to detonate.
